I decided to try this with leather cord so used 1.5mm soft green and used one of my own focal beads.
Here's ac close up of the focal and the smaller beads,
I found it much easier to work with the leather as the knotting seemed to come out more regular. I used silver on the small beads to complement the silver on the focal.

These are from the book "Celtic Knots for Beaded Jewellery" by Suzan Millodot. They are made with 1.5mm leather cord and use sterling silver crimp necklets from Palmers to finish off the cord. The wires are 1mm silver wire as I prefer this for my earings.

Somebody fluttered her eyelashes at me and asked for one of her fabulous rockpool cabs to be turned into a pendant for her holidays :)

I had a wonderful day yesterday with George, she is so patient with me  ::) This is my second day of learning how to enhance my work with silver and I am sure it won't be my last.
I had bought a cab from Lush and wanted to make it into a pendant, but could also be used as a pin. The second thing  I wanted to be able to make was my own stud earrings ,and this with Georges help and tuition is what I have made.
(before you say anything George, I know I need to still do more polishing on them! :D )

... beading keeps me sane in between all the boring stuff  ;D

Stop me if you've seen these before  ::)

Won't bore you with rafts of seedy things but thought you might like these...
First - a commission for a friend's wedding anniversary - fabulous focal by Red Hot Sal in a luscious shade of blue that took weeks of searching to match!

The spacers evolved into my own take on 'silver cored' beads...

And I made a beaded bead pendant to go with one of Diane's silk ribbons in another gorgeous but hard-to-match shade of blue

and got sidetracked into making an even bigger size of beaded bead, mostly if I will be honest here because I made a mistake and ordered wooden beads in the wrong size  ::)

Am currently working on a commission for four 'Nemesis' necklaces  :o of which this is the third, with a stonking stripey encased lentil by our Tan  ;D

That will do to be going on with, but I'll be back with more in due course...

I felt like making something simple last night while watching TV. I knew I had some waxed cotton and a few crystals from a charity shop buy so made this,
The knots are square ones as you can see from this close up
Excuse the cat hairs, Nancy sits on this old jumper when I'm not taking photos.

I am really into making bracelets lately  ::)
This is my latest, I used the new bead marver from Pegusus for the ribbed beads.

Finished this today - gorgeous focal by Tan, sorry my photo doesn't really do it justice:

This is the final 'Nemesis' necklace in an epic commission for no fewer than four of them. Large parcel will be heading off to Australia next week... and I am through with peyote spirals for a while... although I had forgotten how much I love making big dangly tassels!  ;D

Had a mini-experiment moment too ... quilling ... but not just for cardmaking :D

What do you think?
The're not perfect, definately need to improve on my swirlies if i am going to consider selling a few pairs. Would also put a backing behind the quilling so then you don't see the silver base at the bottom, maybe a contrasting colour would look good there :)
Also - making some different patterns, maybe quilled flowers or other swirly-curlies in a mixture of colours would look good.

Apologies if you have seen these on another forum already :-*
I'm off out to the pub in a min, so wanna get my blog and forum posts finito before i leave ;D x

This focal bead didn't want to be made.  I had a lovely Harlequin necklace kit from Diane (Sowzerere) to use, and really wanted to make something to go on it.

However, everything about it went wrong.  Everything smudged, the colours didn't play nicely together, it cracked on the mandrel (about 3 times), and several times I nearly slung it in the water pot.  However, I'd spent so much time on it by that point that I was loathe to give up, even though I did mentally question whether I was just PTT (polishing the turd.....) by then.

However, overall, it seems to have come out ok, so I'm quite pleased with it!!

Now they are dressed, they get a name :- Aqua starburst Earrings.
I didn't want the murrini in the centre, as I wanted them near the base.  ::)
