woo hoo !! I've just managed to blow a bubble for shards......but!

I knew that glass blowing course was a good idea!
ok so I've managed to blow a small bubble about the size of a largish marble,  felt really chuffed, then wasn't sure what to do with it! doh!
So, once it's on inflated on the mandrel what should i do then? put in kiln and anneal? dump in water to cause it to shatter (did this and got frit!!! so not sure that's right)or put in vermiculite to cool then smash?
please help cus I want to go and do some more now!

Keep on blowing until its the size of a large grapefruit, let cool then break up inside a large bowl or tin to stop shards going everywhere
