Sandstone reducing.

I can get sandstone to reduce and it becomes a gorgeous gold, trouble is it only seems to reduce around the bead holes. Any ideas why?
NB. Do not touch hot rods of glass, it is stupid.

i dont think they were too useless they got you in which was the important bit  ;D..... but we were on the vimto not the champagne  ;)

as to why you only get gold round your hole no idea ..... :o

I just found a rod in my stash ... so what does it look like once cooked ?? It looks like a rod of ivory to me ...

yep ....and now it has disapeared from all sites selling .....that blinkin not so secret tester  ::)

I taped a rod of ivory and opal yellow together, came out the same colour as sandstone.

Could be that whatever metal is being reduced is vaporised by the flame. Around the beadholes the mandrel is absorbing some of the heat and the glass is our of the direct flame.

I have lots of sandstone  ::)  ;D  Tis luffly stuff, so it is  ;)
