For the first time of showing - my efforts at lampworking.

I use a hothead with propane and had a two hour tutorial with Saffie last year.  Not been able to get to my torch as much as I would have like until last week.  Now have got about 4 hours under my belt.  Have tried various techinques including encasing and some flowers from a tutorial in the current issue of Making Jewellery magazine.

Please give me some feedback - especially on encasing 'coz I can't seen to get a pucker when I encase.

I am also making ceramic and faience beads.  Faience is an ancient material used by the Egyptians for bead making.  Lots of experimenting going on at present - which is all being recorded in my blog.

Think I was a little inspired after the GBUK meetup @ Tuffnell Glass on Saturday where we blew baubles  ;D Cheers Martin!

LOL - loving this thread!!! Sucha diverse aray of beads - and colours!

Lovely set Helen
Manda those are stunning
Sally, I really love your colour combos

Something of a rarity for me, I don't usually post (in awe of the talent on here ::) )

This bracelet is a project for my Alternative Jewellery course, the brief was using found or recycled materials.
I used a sherry bottle & a mineral water bottle & some of the beads have Beady Sam's gorgeous Monet frit.
I also added a button from my collection to finish it off.
(Sorry for the poor photo, the light was rubbish here today!!)

Another fab show and tell!  Particularly love Manda's fairy tales and Trudi's bright yellows - so sunny!  Just a couple from me....

So Vicki has told us we newbies have to have a go at posting in this scary big girls thread from now on   ;)
Since my beads are sooooo newbie-ish and rubbish i thought i would go for it in the effort to make some of the other newbies feel better!  :P

So this my collection of BHB's so far, the centre 3 and faux boro one on the left are the most recent, it seemed to really "click" my last session and they turned out great (or i think so  :P) and the HUGE faux boro one on the right was my first go at faux boro and encasing, hence it ended up so massive!

And this ones just a close up of the big faux boro one to show its colours a bit better, i love this bead! but my dad has already claimed it  ;)

pleeeeeease be nice  :D
