Black Heart Beads

Great beads from everyone this week.

I spent yesterday making flowers and they got lighter and better as the day went on. Pity the pink photo is not very good as I like them the best.

Think I will etch some of them tonight.

LesleyMac

Lovely work Kaz and I like those copper caps.

I can't seem to stop making huge barrel beads,

First one front and back, its 45mm x 27mm (big for me) weighs a ton

and another front and back

and lastly

I have really enjoyed making these type beads and think I might have found my "forte" at last. Well I live in hope ;D

Wow what beauties so far this week :)

These are just a couple of the sets I have made.
I am loving these, the centre dots is set with a Cubic Zirconia.

These have lovely Iris Violet frit swirled around them.

These ones have Iris gold frit swirled around them, and I have managed to get some lovely purples and blues.

Oh and a few earring pairs.

Lush!

I snapped up the Chunky Disc press from Kaz last week - its mahoooosive!  This is made in the smaller side!

Lovely big "canvas" to work on but I'm not sure how well this shape will make up into jewellery.

Couple more from me...

I would have preferred if the droplets had gone a nice blue colour instead of the funny smudgy colour but I like the peacock feather thing its got going on and am going to try some more a little later on

This one has gone all pitty which is a pity...LOL (sorry I'll get my coat)  Also I was trying my hand a fake boro with this one but although I got some great greens and blues on the base a lot of it went a really dark grey... so the whole bead is a bit of a lose...  >:( I'm thinking of doing the nailpolish thing and etching everything but the drops to see if that improves it

Well I am totally laid up with a really snotty cold so I've only managed a couple of sampler sets so far this week.........

Blue Kiln Beads

#97
Today was the first day in a very long time that I have managed to muster the energy to get in the workshop and melt some glass (darn thyroidectomy cancer stuff).  I have been lusting after daisy beads so I decided I would have a go.....  I was making a base bead then trying to add blobs of glass on the side which I was then squashing with mashing tongs.  Just wondered if I am going about it in the right way?  I asked myhusband if he could see what I was trying to achieve and he imediately said flowers so I must be on the right track!  Does anyone know of any tutorials?

Any help much appreciated.

Yvette

So  practise, practise, practise and here are the results, these are my most recent attempts, for the whole journey so far visit my blog www.thebeadaddict.blogspot.com .  I will say though that you have to excuse the disgusting bead poo.  I was so chuffed with these that I wanted to snap them before they went in the kiln incase they didn't survive - as it happens I have lost the dots on the stripy one..... These shots were also an experiment with lighting etc, not sure I will be using blue tack again.... :D

These beads have now become a necklace prototype but I haven't had a chance to take a pick yet.

Last weekend I had an artistic experience (dahling!) that I really want to share with somebody - and I reckon you folks might be the only people to understand me!

A customer asked me to make her a bead and spacers based on this one, but in "cerise and lime" to match an outfit

Cerise? Uh oh, I thought!  That's gonna mean Rubino, and last time I tried to make a lentil with Rubino it turned out like a muddy brown lump.  So we talked about colours and agreed that I'd have a play with some different combinations.

A couple of days later, I rather halfheartedly sent her this photo

and I wasn't at all surprised when she said they weren't right.

I really didn't know where to go next, so asked if she could send me a picture of the top.

Look here, she said, its the Wild Rose Tunic

AHA!! Now I knew what to do!

I couldn't wait to get out to the Torch Porch!

Got my inspiration

Got my pattern

Got my colours

The Result:

and the final choice, etched

Now I'm just hoping to see a final photo of the necklace!
