Hi

I've just had a play with Iris Gold Frit and was blown away with the effects!! Can anyone tell me if all Iris Colours have similar effects or is the gold one a bit special?

Thanks

Trudi

Hi Trudi, ok I am no professional but I think all the iris colours do something but they do need striking or reducing. I think if you leave them raised as stringer or dot decoration and reduce they are metallic. If the frit is melted in I found it bleeds and fades outwards in a really nice way.

Do you know how to make stringer from frit...its only heating and dipping a clear rod into it, melting the frit in and then pulling it into a stringer, it may be lumpy though so beware ;D

Iris blue.... on ivory, silvered ivory especially... it went all lovely and wierd and green and things.... Also iris black did some interested spreading out stuff on white once when i applied it as dots....

You cant leave us hanging Mary.....tell us more :D

You know Tan, the Effetre light brown dipped in frit, with or without silver, and pulled into stringer. These were done with iris gold, encased. Anyway, I've seen it done with blue and green too, though I've not tried it.  I do love the magic of getting these colours from brown and gold!

Sorry - I haven't posted pic yet - the shame!!

Here are a few that I've made:

The Iris Gold & Iris Green are great - someone sent me Iris Blue and I have losts of trouble with that and not very good results!

those are very yummy beads

oh they are lovely - did you do anything special to it, like mix it with the straw yellow/light trans brown? or is it just the frit?

As for iris blue - try it over silvered ivory...

haha is this tips from pointy tits ;D

Oh - great tip about the iris blue - I'll give that a go!!!

For the ones in the picture nothing too special  - generally an opaque base  -  - then either a matching stinger with the frit only roughly melted in - about 3 times then pulled over the base and covered with a light transparent. I've been trying different combos to see the effects. and it's stunning! I just need to work on the encasing a bit more - but hey - it's all practise!

Cheers!
