Can someone tell me how to use this please... I first bought opaline yellow, then realised I had got the wrong one.  Bought opal yellow and am really disappointed.....  All I get is this off white colour.. my dark ivory is a better colour than this.  So I'm obviously doing something wrong with it... (I hope) or maybe  I am just permanently opal yellow challenged  ;D

If it's got a hole, it's a bead !

check out www.andreaguarino.com ... she uses a lot of opal yellow in her beads..... if it goes really white, I'd be inclined to try working it a bit cooler.... but having said that, I've had some before that seems to wash out once melted...

It works really well and gives a good strong reactions with silver n ivory ... :)

I'd also be interested in finding out whether there is some sort of knack in using opal yellow.  I have seen beads where people are able to make it kind of 'blush'.  When I use it, it ends up much lighter than the colour I started with!!  :(

I had a batch that was really pale, and didn't do much - nice with silver though.  `Proper' Opal Yellow is a deep custardy yellow colour and if you look at the ends it has rings of pink through it.  When you look at a cooled rod you can usually see the `blush' where its been melted.  Its really yummy stuff if you've got the right glass.  A few people I know of ended up with the Opalino Yellow like you did at first and got put off.  Opal Yellow is well worth the cost though ;)

Well my opal yellow has no pink rings anywhere... its very pale yellow in the rod with  rings of slightly darker yellow through it, not custardy at all.  >:(

I got opaline yellow instead of opal yellow amd wondered why it didn't react the same way - til Beadysam pointed it out!
My opal yellow 'blushed' all by itself, but I probably struck it.

I have 591266 Opal Yellow from martin, it has no pink rings, doesnt blush and well its a bit incipid when melted, is it the 'right' opal yellow?

Ive had 2 lots off martin the first shock so bad i gave up saw martin at harrogate and was telling him he had a ook as it was the same batch and you could see bubbles on the thick rodds but the thin rods seemed ok so i bought some of them to have that co white on me i,m like you really disappointed .

Mine does nothing either, I was expecting some sort of nice effect but alas I am disappointed again.

I LOVE opal yellow! I usually get it to blush by striking it.
It's a fab colour for making reactive beads. Yummie!

I have striked (or is it struck LOL) it lol, made diddly squat difference, when worked its barely cream, more like a dirty white
