If I make a stringer with effetre and iris gold frit and then apply it to a base bead, do I need to use a reduction flame on the bead with the iris stringer on it in order to get the faux boro colours, or can I just use my normal hot head flame?   I have searched FH and no one says what type of flame they use.. just how to apply the stringer.  I know I could just go ahead and try, but it's also nice to learn from others  :D :D :D
Thanks
Fiona

If it's got a hole, it's a bead !

The hot head flame is usually a bit reducing anyway, I think - but I'm fairly sure you need to reduce it a bit more as well. It is very pretty!
Iris gold makes nice surface decoration for some colours too - I did a pair of purple balls once with a spiral of iris gold stringer, reduced and it went a lovely gold. But I think it needs to be left raised. If you melt it in, it can go yukky - unless that was just me!!

Your right, its not as gorgeous when its melted in. I love it raised and reduced on purple, it always goes a fab gold
