After quite some time of not doing any bead making I am getting back into the swing of things but have a quick question

What clears do I have and which one is which?

I know that either myself or someone else has asked this before but I can't find the thread anywhere.

I have three types of clear. If you put them in a bundle and look down the ends one is a bluey colour, one is a greyish colour and the other is green. I'm pretty sure the  lausha is green the blue is efferette but I could very easily be wrong. Also I have no idea what the grey one is. Any help?

this is not an easy one at all because i've just looked on the rack here and although the greenish tint is typical of the lauscha, the effetre is also got the same tint!.. the lauscha is hand pulled - but they are bloody good so even that may be hard to spot.. vetro is clear/very light grey, but then again there are clearly different tints for the batches?..

i'd try this, make 3 clear encased beads over a black core, 1 using each of the glass batches....

The scummiest would be the effetre, the middle would be the vetrofond and the clearest would be the Lauscha. Thats normally how it goes with the clears and their clarity and standard. Lauscha is usually a bit stiffer and boils less quickly than the vetrofond and effetre too.

Thats how I would do it if I couldnt tell my looking at them!

you could do a silver encased bead, if it cracks its lauscha :D

I never have problems encasing silver with Lauscha?

Theres a colour reaction as well with some clears and silver foil. I think one turns it golden if its on a black background and then encased in clear if I remember. But not knowing which one I cant help you!

Thanks Ladies and Gent, I shall give the encasing a go tomorrow and hopfully I'll be able to work it out!
