Found some of this lurking on my shelving today and thought I'd have a go, see what it does.  The pink in pink came out beige on off white - clearly I'm doing something wrong as not getting the kinds of ripple colours shown on Tuffnell's website.  I tried more gas, less gas, striking (always a challenge for me) and reducing and still beige on off white.

What is the trick?

The kiln is still cooling else I'd add a photo, but it's not a pretty sight, it's just not selling itself to me.

It doesn't work too well for me, either, Sue.  And as for Tongue Pink......................bleargh!  I have to keep it well away from my white, after a nasty case of mistaken identity .

I'm pretty sure I got a striated look as well as with the blue version, Caribbean Sea.

It doesn't look very pretty when it's hot! (To be honest I'm not that much a fan once it's cooled again either!) mine was very dark orangey with only a few bits of the pink showing

I quite like tongue pink - bad name, but it makes a nice shade of pale terracotta.

Well, mine are not attractive (unless they have done something miraculous in the kiln since yesterday - not had time to empty today).  Caribbean sea, no problem, quite nice.

As for tongue pink, yep, mixed in with whites of all sorts after my Little Helper thought he was helping by putting 'all the whites' in the same slot!

You can usually tell the rod's tongue pink after you've used it, the end goes pinkish, but can I get it to do that when I'm making a bead?  No, it just goes sort of off white with maybe a touch of terracotta near the holes!

I work it out the other way - the white is like a firecracker!
