Kronos 2 - what is it supposed to do?

I've played a bit with Kronos 2 but can't seem to get it to do anything fancy. The glass is blue on the rod and it pretty much stays the same whatever I do with it, except some "mucky" edges (reaction to the glass next to it?). Not quite what I'd expect, but what exactly should I expect it to do? What am I looking for?

It reduces - dark blue shine. If you get it too hot it'll start going green. Put it on the bead, let it cool, then wave it in the top of a reducing flame and you should see the shine.

ETA: looking at Double Helix's site, it seems to be one that strikes and reduces? I had a go with it at Tuffnell's open day and treated it like Triton: got very nice deep shiny blue. The encased bit went green and cream, like most of them do if you get them too hot when encasing.

I tend to strike it before reducing, treating it a bit like Clio - if you over-reduce it, it does go murky.  I've got some lovely colours from it, oil slick rainbows over the silver reduction - been trying to find a picture, but those were purchased literally out of the kiln!

I got the latest soda lime times issue (since Madeline suggested it) and there is a very nice tutorial in it using kronos, not to mention i will be able to read it on the train on the way home later

These are some very old beads, and it's a crap photo, but they are Kronos and you can just about see the bluey/green surface reduction sheen on them....

Thank you all  Looking closely at today's bead it looks like there is a bit of lighter blue in some parts. The bead is quite small, perhaps I should make a larger bead in order to see if there's something going on. I hope I'll have time to give it another spin tomorrow
