Just a simple question, is Tuffnells Orange Iris the same as Raku. I know raku has been given lots of different names but is this one of them.

Thanks!

Billie

Mais oui!  ;D  I got some months back after double checking with Martin  ;)

yep, and its the devil in disguise..............beadysam has some dark raku which is a bit easier to get results and she has a gorgeous gorgeous raku blend too which gives heavenly results

Stacy

Bugger!!!! I was hoping it wasn't. Then it wouldn't be my fault that it wasn't doing anything apart from going a dark yucky brown!!!

Ummmm - May have to give it a go especially as a little bird told me that we were moving about 10 minutes drive from her as well!! I think I might become her newest stalker!!!

Trudi

How are you using it???

It's really nice when rolled onto the surface - then I blow on mine to get the colours to react. It's also nice when melsted onto a rod and then pulled & mealted round a bead!

Trudi

Ekk - you could geet arrested for that - LOL

Billie

I find a raku stringer easier...

Sam's raku mix is brilliant  ;D ;)

Well I've jsut been rolling a small bead in the frit then getting it really hot and blowing on it but it just looks like i burnt it. Not even going black just brown

Just looked under the silver leaf thread in this section - have a look!

Thats great!!! Going to give it a go now

Mary

You want the brown! Then you reheat it, and the colours appear. You don't really get the colours unless you've been through the brown. Good luck!

What Mary says - if you get the brown you are just one stage off of the colours!

I have more success working from the rod or from stringers from frit if that helps...

Raku
is a beast!!!

i have worked with the frit and got some fantastic results but at the moment it is very hit and miss.

try swirling the raku into the base colour and it loves to be shaped.x x

What colours does everyone use their raku on?  Black is the obvious one but I love it on some of the special reds / corals too.
