Madam Steph

Any advice re this, please.

I made a small base with Reichenbach Rose (transparent), burnished some silver foil onto it, put a lil bit of rose over the silver so that Cherry Blossom frit would stick to it, then encased.
I know to work cool with it, but one moment it was there, then into the ether!!!
I'm on a Cricket, so how should I work this, please?

Shirley

I've not tried this combination, and I'm on a bobcat, not a cricket, but I quite often make frit beads with silver leaf. I make my base bead, roll in leaf, burnish and then melt it in, cool so the core is solid, then heat until it's glowing enough for the frit to stick. I don't add any more of the base glass to the silver.

Thats what I am doing wrong then, Shirley.
I was afraid of the foil evaporating, so only made a small core to burnish onto.
Then when I had to shape the rest of the glass added, it must have been overworked/overheated then.
Thanks for your reponse  :)

I hope that works for you Linda, I always find that silver fumes yellow on pinks, so would love to look at the finished beads when you get them done, its always good to know which colours will take the silver.  :)
