CIM Hades

I decided to try making a batch of fritty beads on CIM Hades last night and was really disappointed as a lot of the frit seems to have disappeared now they're out of the kiln. Is it a case of me having over-heated the frit or is it just the reaction of the glass on Hades do you think? The frit was Beadysam's 'Gem Surprise' which looked like a mixture of white / red / coral / pale blue colours and which I thought would stand out really nicely on the black.

Any suggestions or advice would be really appreciated please before I try another batch of Hades fritty beads!

Hades is possibly too strong a black - perhaps try eff black instead.

Hades is like the intense black, pull really thin apply to bead, super heat and you get a lovely lace effect. It's probably 'eaten' the frit.

Yep, it certainly has! I guess that's how you learn. I'll try Effetre black with frit then and have a play with hades stringers to see what sort of effects I can get. So is Hades not really recommended as a base colour then? I think I saw some beads in the gallery with Hades and Raku frit, which looked really great and that's what inspired me to try the fritty beads.

::)They were mine! Yes it was Hades base - raku is strong enough to hold it's own against the 'force of darkness'! These were they:

Ant, why don't you try encasing a TINY Hades bead then add your frit to the clear surface? (I know you make great encased beads

)

Gem Surprise has some transparents in it as well as the opaques - they won't show up on the black so I'd agree with what Julie said to try.

Though... hades with silver leaf and *then* the frit could be nice.
