i've had a rod of this laying around for a while and never known how it should be worked, now i've had a look on the DH website and i still cant really figure out if its a striker or a reducer (or a bit of both) ran a search here on the forum and couldnt find anything either (doesnt seem a very popular DH colour!)  so i was wondering if anyone knew how it should be worked or have any tips for using it?  :)

Tills

I have a little DH card which gives instructions on Striking & Reducing, according to the card Kronos 2 is a Striking colour.

Hope this helps  ;D

Thanks Gail, it does say on DH website that it strikes but then they include it in their "reduction" pack which is what threw me  :-\

Mary

It reduces to a metallic lustre, but it also does the opaque turquoisey thing when you reduce. It is like striking, but you need to reduce to get it to happen. Don't overdo the reduction, the cream opaque stuff is hard to burn off.

I agree with Mary, you do strike it but in a reduction flame, or at least that's what I do, allowing it to cool, or rolling it on a marver in between reductions seems to help prevent over reducing. As Mary said it can get a creamy brown yuk on it if over reduced. I really like this glass as it is beautiful both encased and on the surface.

Thanks Mary and Kate, so just to make sure i've got it straight in my mind, let it cool ( or roll on a marver or something) then reduce lightly? now i know why i dont use my DH much  ;)

I think you'll get on fine with it, it's quite a nice one to work with  :)
