Copper green

Hi all, first of, no doubt, many questions, but am I expecting too much of copper green, once I have made a bead the remainer of the rod has a lovely copper glow to it, but it doesn't seem to matter what I do to the bead I can't get it on there!  In the flame is fine, but as soon as I take it out, the copper colour disappears.  It also came as 2 thin rods together, slightly different shades of green, and I only ordered 1 rod so assume they are supposed to be worked together???

From what I remember, the thing about Copper Green is how it reacts with other colours - the copper in it will react with other metals/additions in other glass.
If you're looking for the reddish colour, then try reducing the glass. I think unreduced copper is greeny blue, reduced is red.
Glass colour can change slightly between rods but is likely to end up roughly the same in the final piece if worked the same - you'll have got 2 thin rods because the supplier was being honest and glass is really sold by weight, so if they only had thin rods they've put 2 in to make up the right weight.

Copper Green is such a lovely glass, it is quite reactive and works beautifully with ivory and turquoise - but it doesn't look coppery!

It does reduce easily and it will look quite murky - etch it and it looks wonderfully beachy and calm.

i love copper green ...dont give up on it ...like julie says its about how it reacts with other glass ...have a play and see what happens .......

Etch it, it gives a lovely soft turquoise.

Ooooh, don't tell me to etch it, that just means that I will have to buy something else, 

The copper finish on the rod is what has confused me, wondering why I can't get that on the bead.  Will have a play with some ivory and see what comes of that.

I love to pair Copper Green with browns of all kinds. very earthy, and the patina from Copper Green goes nicely with brown.  Try layering it with Effetre Dark Sage Transparent for a deep, foresty green shade.
