Identifying anise white?

I have an unlabelled white rod that came in my starter pack that looks very slightly more translucent than my normal white. I tried making a spacer from it - the rod didn't shock, but I was being careful with it, so I don't know if that helps! It felt different to work and my spacer again seems to be very very slightly more translucent, particularly around the holes.

I looked at the fritipedia and it says anise white webs with intense black and goes rusty when super heated. I'll have a go at the latter. I don't have any intense black, but I do have a rod of CiM Hades. Anyone know if that gives the same effect, or if there's anything else I can try?

I'm not sure if I'm just seeing things!

If you have a rod of normal white to compare it to the difference is fairly obvious, it looks slighty more milky/opal, and it is really runny when it gets hot...HTH

That's the problem - I *think* it looks different next to the normal rod, but I want a way of making a positive identification!

It spits like mad if it's anise white - very shocky glass - and it does have a different look against the dense white.

My Anise has a small almost clear core and is not much of a talker, but it spits like mad.

Yes, it's very shocky, also it's usually much thicker than a "standard" white rod. Pull a little stringer and squiggle some on a normal black bead and let it melt in. If the stringer just sits on the surface and remains opaque it's white but if it sinks in and you get a thin purplish line in the centre of the stringer, in other words a chemical reaction. then you've got anice white.

Hold it up to the light - if its very slightly transclucent - its anice - its shocky but worth experimenting with, you can get some nice effects if you use it as a base and superheat it - not just with intense black - it works lovely with coral red and aurea.

This stuff looks so different when hot.

It also feels different in the rod.
Try gently sliding your fingers up and down the rod (ooer missus)  when cold and it feels textured, whereas normal white is silky smooth
