Rust Coloured Glass

I'm doing a study on urban decay, and I was wondering if any of you glassy gurus could recommend me a 104 coe rust coloured glass?ideally i would like to use stringer on it and then etch...i think.  got accidental turquoise and rusty red coloured yesterday  not quite what i was looking for though!

I bought two lots of glass recently, and made a bead out of one of them....it was very rusty looking in colour, but I couldn't remember which one it was made out of ..... the glass was....

Coral Martian Strata Special Effetre Rod. 591420-MS

and

Red Roof Tile

Actually, just checked my rods, and the red roof tile rods have not been used, but the coral martian strata has a used end.  This unused coral colour is reddish, but when I made the bead it was more rusty.

have a look at northstar precision red matisse exotic 104, produces a rust like reaction x

If you make silvered stringer with rubino or coral you get a nice rusty organic reaction as well.

Helen if you heavily reduce clear emerald you get some good copper shades the same with dark aqua and turquoise

Already put them on the newbie s&t thread, but really pleased with them: i tried the silvered coral stringer idea..


tan im going to try the heavy reduction tomorrow...what glass can i use with the emerald though, one that doesnt reduce? i presume most?

you could also try using Devit on some effetre chocolate, Ive devitted a few pieces this week but they need coldworking (to cut the a viewing window) before I can post pics, it creates a lovley texture on the work

Devit, is done by stripping a layer of sodium atoms away from the glass (i think) it where you use the wrong flame mix on purpose ie over propane rich. people refer to it as 'burnt' glass but obviously you cant burn glass!
Hopefully the Opals Ive encased will stay intact this time and not decide to explode :/
