I have been trying to make a simple base bead with CIM Hades but it seems very shocky. I have wasted about 1/2 a rod so far, with bits about an inch long breaking off. Is this normal with this glass? I heated it very, very slowly but still pieces were even breaking off while I was winding the glass onto the mandrel.

I know - I forgot to label a couple of my black rods, and I always know which one is the Hades by how much it blows apart.  I just take extra time heating it before melting it, and while using it, 'dip'  the next part of the rod in the flame a bit.  Does that make sense?

Thanks Kirsty, will give the 'dipping' thing a go.
