Triton on a HH - how to get silver appearance?

Hello all

Yes It's only Day 5 for me, and I know I shouldn't even be going near Triton yet, but I couldn't resist!

I've managed to reduce it, but I'm only getting gold tones coming from it.  How do I get silver?  Do I need to waft it in the flame for a lot longer than I'm currently doing??

Not sure if it will work but have you tried the Tin foil around the holes at the top of the hot head.. Martin from Tuffnells showed me this at a Bead Fair! 

Apologies if you have already tried this..

If not when you try watch your fingy's cos the foil gets very hot!

If you are getting gold you are reducing it too far. Are you using the tin-foil collar, or using the blue cones? I think the blue cones are too hot, I could never use them well. Try the tin-foil collar, and reduce in the tip of the flame, at arm's length. And very briefly. You can repeat a few times if you need to.

I'm using the slightly lesser known technique of... cover the holes on the HH with the strap of my leather apron    It's a bit Heath Robinson but it works, and is less burny on the fingers!!

It seems it is doing too good a job - I will literally just waft it in there next time - I've been holding it there for a minute or so!

Yep, too much! It's hard to explain, but really just a second or two. Then again if you need it. I tend to get silver first, then rainbow colours, then the gold. You can go back into a normal flame if you go too far and melt it off a bit.
