TAG: I got sludge

Anyone any suggestions for TAG Dalai Lama? I made a lentil and tried to strike it but it just came out a lousy muddy colour

Can't help I'm afraid but I've just had delivery of my TAG sample pack from Sean at Off Mandrel and I'm to frightened to try it

Actually I'm being serious, it's not cheap lets face it. I've read the wiki stuff on here and Sean sent me a handy tech sheet which I've read a few times. The plan is to pull stringers with a 1/4 rod of each and have a play with that first if I get anywhere with Dalai Lama I'll update ya

I'd like to know which one to try first, i.e the easiest to tease results from

it's been a while since I tried this - but I found dali lama to be ok.

There was a post somewhere else - I beleive from Claire Scott - in particular about the reducing colours that the flame needs to be pretty much no oxygen!

Maybe we should start a TAG thread and post any findings to help each other out? This does seem to be a tricky glass and it is expensive, but its soooooo delicious!!!

I made some beads on my HH from TAG Tibet and it looked like poop. Very disappointed.

Had another go and reeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllly heated it and got some colour. I reintroduced it into the flame after cooling 2-3 times nearer the tip of the flame. Only got about an ich left so unless I want to incorporate finger in the next one I'll have to buy some more. Sorry I can't post the pics as my sister is the photographer and is away.

join the rod onto another colour so you can hold it!!!

More seriously - heat to reeeeally hot, give it a loooong cool, before striking.
New TAG colours on their way - Aquis, and Mars - to arrive around the end of the month.
Tan and Trudi - good ideas on thread and wiki - when I get back from hols, I'll start posting my experiences with these glasses, if it would be useful.

ohh Aquis - I was just looking at that one!
