I have 591266 Opal Yellow from martin, it has no pink rings, doesnt blush and well its a bit incipid when melted, is it the 'right' opal yellow?

Ermm.. just like mine then  :(

If it's got a hole, it's a bead !

I have striked (or is it struck LOL) it lol, made diddly squat difference, when worked its barely cream, more like a dirty white

And mine as well.. probably the same batch from Martin  >:(  and its got holes in it.. even when pulled as a stringer !!

Well, what Anna said really.
On its own - doesn't do a lot - try it out with some zingy reactives like EDP or your Double Helix glass. I love it. Makes nice Goddess flesh tones. Doesn't always strike - but when it does it's nice.

Shirley

Great with copper green too. I find it sometimes strikes in the kiln rather than at the torch. Definitely one of my favourite glasses. :)
Val Cox Frit - Thai and Bali Silver

I have been using with silver foil and raku frit and I really like this effect  ;D

afina

I love it with Rubino Oro - gives a "sunrise" effect from yellow to orange and then pink.

Yes, precisely! I use a lot of opal yellow, but only as an 'ingredient' with other reactive glasses.  Try making a twisty with turquiose, edp, and maybe a stringer of intense black. Or Raku.  Wind it on opal yellow.....cook....and marvel at what will happen. (This was, I think, first done by Donna Millard). On it's own I find it a wee bit *quiet*.

Same here, mine's only ever gone a sort of gone-off milk colour and when I tried adding Rubino, it just went muddy! But having seen all those lovely pics on LE, I'm prepared to give it another go...
