Identifying anise white?

Forgot that Sarah - it's another way I tell the difference in the dark too. Its def. not as smooth as 'normal glass'.

Another little tip - for recognising silvered glass - I melt the tip of one end so it shows the silvering and then use it from the other end - this is born of expensive use of Triton as cobalt blue and Aurea as a pink!

Ok, I tested tonight with it and white. They're still cooling, but I feel pretty certain saying that it *is* anice, because it definitely sunk in and the normal white didn't. It's also slightly translucent when held up to the light and is a little softer than the normal white.

But! It's still not shocky. It's really nice to melt, actually. And the rod is the same thickness as my white and feels silkier than it does, not rough at all. 

Have I miraculously ended up with one rod of the best anice ever? Because if there's any more like this, I really like this glass.

You must have some from the same batch as me Heather - I haven't had shocky bother with mine either

Could be Effetre Opalino white? - looks a bit translucent, almost milky, but is not shocky. Smooth to touch. Lovely glass!

I don't know, Julie - it came with my Effetre starter pack from Tuffnell's and I thought they didn't carry the opalinos and alabastros?

I got a batch of anice white very recently, and it's great - not shocky at all.
