You probably won't get them immediately if you are using silver leaf. If you are using foil (and if you lay it on as thick as I do) they'll tend to come out very easily as there is an excess of silver in the "mix".
If you want the little silver globules you can try overloading the stringer with silver and also - the more you "work" the glass (basically heating/cooling it repeatedly) the more the silver will come out of the stringer. You'll actually get a line of dark silver in the middle of the stringer and specks of silver will appear. If you are using leaf you might want to use several layers to make this effect more pronounced.

I think of it as "activating" the silver  :)

Sandy,  I have just got some silver foil from Q and it is soooo much better than leaf - and it doesn't get stuck to your fingers like leaf does!!   ;D  So I would recommend investing in foil and giving that a go instead.

flowerjasper

i think i will,
no more leaf blowing away!!

Not to mention getting firmly wrapped around your fingers !!  ;D

I'm not a leaf fan - I end up either eating it or wearing it.

LOL - I made that mistake the first time I got some and then opted for using tweezers after that !   ;D ;D
