Olympia Rain bead recipe needed please

Morning peeps

Last time I ordered from DH, I got me some Olympia Rain. All fine and dandy except I haven't a clue what to do with it. I've tried a few beads but they look like bleurgh.

I've seen people achieve some lovely wispy effects with this glass but no idea how

Can someone post me a recipe to try with Olympia Rain, just to get me started?

I've never tried it, but I've got a vague recollection that it can be stormed.

Have you tried it as stringer over cobalt?

Olympia Rain is marketed as Aion now, a slightly new recipe to iron out the 'shocky', I believe.

You may have bought a 'new' limited edition made by request, which goes back to the original 'recipe', so go easy on the 'warming' at first

Hi Helen

Olympia Rain is great for storming which is why they remade it. Its quite different to Aion although Steph is right that Aion replaced OR a few years ago. I haven't used it other than storming. But you could try it over amber as that usually gives a cool reaction for the transparent silver glasses.

These are OR stormed over an ASK red.

This is one of my favourite silver glasses and I use it a lot. It doesn't need a lot of reduction, and I actually prefer it in small amounts over other silver glasses, especially Elektra. I find it very different from Aion, I actually bought a load when I found out it was replacing OR but it's nothing like. Rachel's your woman for this one though.

'Fraid not - I've been nagged to death about taking photos and putting a catalogue of sorts together, but I really hate taking pictures. Hence the lack of 'em in the Gallery. I'm going to try more from now on, as once they're sold I have no record of things that I've made, and it would be a rather nice thing to have. The lady who bought the pendant might let me take a piccy if I see her though.
Oh, and it is the best glass for storming. Makes fab twisties and murrini too.
I promise from now on to photo all half decent beads that I make, lampworkers honour

Thanks one and all - I have the storming tutorial so gave it a go on a couple of beads today.

Going in the kiln, they looked a bit birdy poo like but we'll see what comes out!

I like having the photos so that I can see my progress (or lack of it sometimes) and how my style develops.

Helen my stormed OR looked like birdy poo too before it went into the kiln
