lead and nickle free

Hi, I've just been asked if my glass beads are lead and nickle free. I mostly use efftre 104. Does anyone know?

I would say that any lead or nickel in the glass would be unlikely to leach out and cause problems, even if it was there. It might be a problem if the glass was melted and the metals turned volatile, but that would affect you more than any wearer. That isn't a definite answer, but my guess
Are they by any chance worried that their dog might eat them?

I don't know about lead but I have a serious nickel allergy and can wear lamp worked beads all day long with no allergy problems

Some glass contain's lead.  Gaffer does but not sure on soft glass.

I would not of thought that any would "leach" out when the glass is in it's hard state.

I'm not sure either but would agree with hotglass- I doubt it would be able to affect..well anything whilst solid! Soft glass like effetre is soda lime glass (whatever that means) and I know that some Japanese glasses are very high in lead- perhaps the customer is just trying to distinguish between the two? Not sure!

Muranoglassbeads.com history state their beads are nickel and lead free.

there was an article someone found a while back, that looked at some of the metallic surface coatings on glass. think the grey on turquoise they said was zinc! was quite scientific, but I cant for the life of me find it!

anyone else remember that?
