annealling temp for ekho

I have had a love/hate relationship with silver glass for years...... i love it it hates me 

decided to give the fire opals a go, it went well, great colours, batched annealled them on my usual schedual 520 c, came out crappy 
looked at the double helix striking guide and they advise 940f (504 c), what temp do you use?

I garage at 500deg C, and anneal at 510 deg C, and have never had a problem. I think my kiln fires a bit cold, though, so my feeling is that the actual temperature is lower than that.

you could try to anneal at 510 or 500, and see if you find the temp. that does not take away reduction shine or strike the glass. I know some lampworkers anneal the silver glasses as low as 480 deg C.

I used to garage at 510 and then anneal at 520 for an hour, but I took Julie's advice above - especially as my kiln does have a tendancy to overshoot by about 10 degrees.

I used to find that glasses like Luna 2, Ekho, Terranova etc. used to go in brightly coloured and come out a murky brown or cream.

I now garage at 490 and then put the temp up to 500 to anneal for an hour.

After a slip of the finger trying to advance my program I garage at 517, but anneal at 520.  I've never have any problems with changes to my silver glass.  I may have  a go at lowering my temp too, just as a test. 

Sandy, can you let us know if it makes a difference to your beads?
