What is 'odd' glass?

I've seen various references on other sites for 'odd' glass, usually in reference to Vetro.  At first I thought they meant odd as in an unrelated selection but I'm beginning to think it means something else?

If it is different to normal glass, is it harder to work, not for newbies etc?

It's usually batches of glass that didn't quite turn out to the normal specifications - variances in colour, for example.

For working, some of them can be very shocky, some of them are fine.

Can be lengthily described as

'We, as manufacturers were messing around with some new recipes and come up with this colour, it looks lovely on the rod and as a paddle but is cack made into beads. Alternatively, we have produced a lovely colour but no one wrote the recipe down so there won't be anymore. However this was an expensive mistake to make so we are passing this cost onto you by charging three times more for this glass and calling it odd..........enjoy

such cynicism!.. ;-).... as a well know "odd glass junkie munkie" i can confirm that odd glass is normally batches made for tests, new recipes etc etc that for one reason or other never made it into general circulation.. most often limited to a test pot - ie 100 kilos or so - so normally it is limited in terms of stock amounts..

we have had the good fortune of meeting and becoming friends with some suppliers, and have hence had access to store rooms and batches that may not otherwise ever have come to light..

vetrofond as a supplier also explored a number of "odd lots" for us in terms of new colours and formulations - and hence vetrofond does have more "odd" colours available..
