Purple Cobwebs

I bought some Terra 2 at the Flameoff show at the weekend and couldn't wait to play with it. However I'm a bit dissapointed with the results.
I heated, cooled, heated, cooled, reduced then encased, but they came out a bit green and boring.
I then made a big hole bead with my new big hole mandrel and did the same but didn't encase. I love te metallic blue I've acheived, but again, it's not got the depth of colour I was after!

Any tips before my next attempt?

When it first came in Emma did some trials with it and to be honest the colours are a lot brighter when its left un-encased! The pictures are on Emma's facebook if you wanted to have a look
Cant offer much else help as i havent had a play with it yet  :D

treat it like normal glass, no heating, cooling, reducing or striking. If it likes you it will do its thing.  :)

Thanks Sal! I've stroked it, I've spoken nicely to it, and I've booked the day off work tomorrow to play with it!!!!
Hope its nice to me!!!!
Wish me luck.

I had a go with it this evening - only made 2 beads but got a sort of murky brown and blue mix.  Methinks I've yet to suss it.

Studio Girl

I bought some from Martin on Saturday
and to be honest I am a bit disappointed with it
they are in the kiln now but i will show them later and I will also have another go
This time I will try kissing stroking and all the other things
back soon

try letting it cool a little longer and when you're re-heating heat the surface rather than the whole bead!

I'm much more happy with this attempt. The colours are coming out more, and I'm seeing the silvery sheen. Thanks so much for the tips.
I'll keep trying and see what else materialises!

There is a thread somewhere on Lampwork Etc. Lots of tips and more beads appearing daily.

It takes time to get used to a silver glass. Lots of people wrote off the original terra because they couldn't get immediate results. Once they'd worked it out it became the best glass in the world!

The results are all the sweeter if you've had to work at it a bit!
