been thinking i'd like to make a goodess with some double helix but that means i wouldnt be able to encase which seems to be the recomendation for all the DH glass, so i wondered if there were any that looked nice without being encased?

I am such a crap sender, I will add some to the stuff I have ready to send to you. I will get it sorted tonight to post tomorrow, I have written it on my hand.

Encasing dh is lovely but you don't have to - its just a different effect. The downside is the surface reaction on reduction glasses may wear off over time.

I'd say give it a go and see what you think - which dh do you have?

You could always make your own frit from the rod you have.

Heat a blob on the end of a rod, mash it flat, heat it again mash it quick and then dunk it in a mug of cold water,  it should shatter into frit. Sieve, dry then use as frit :O)

Means you don't have to smash it up and inhale dust if you only want a bit it works great and is fun to do.

I would stick with the reducers - triton, psyche & aurae will definitely work but psyche would be my first choice. I don't know ekho well enough but it reduces so should work too.

I would also make the core of the bead from cheaper glass so that you only have the dh on the outside - it will save you a lot of money and you don't need to worry about neat encasing as they are opaque when reduced.

I'd be wary of the strikers because you need to heat them so that they are gloopy and you will lose your shape - but I have seen goddesses made from them so it can be done. If I remember rightly pandora was designed so that you can use a striker for sculptural work.

Hope this helps
