This is a relatively new colour for me  - and I really do love the shade of blue. But is it just me or do the rest of you find that this one pits and bubbles a lot in the flame.

I thought at first it was a rogue rod - but I was given rods by 2 different people and I then ordered my own batch  - and I find that sometimes mid bead while the rod has been in the flame it suddenly starts  .......

Any hints or tips ...

by the way I'm working in a normal flame  - minor, not very hot, but not too cool either.

Hmm, I haven't had any experiences like that, I think. I found that beads cracked if I encased it with silver glass, though (TAG Golden Emerald).

Hi Trudi!
When my acquamarine does this, I turn the propane a little bit higher to get a just-not-neutral-anymore-but-very-little-reducing flame. This does the trick. Maybe this will work with CIM sapphire, too?

I haven't had any problems with this glass. Maybe it is 2 rogue rods that originated from the same batch  ???

It's just odd as these were rods from two different people and my batch!

mine does this as well as my sepia! just does not like to be too hot work it slow and cooler!!!

Trudi

Hi My Sepia does this too - just no where near as bad as the Sapphire. I have a few new rods of Sepia I need to try out - want to know if that was a batch thing or just typical of the colour!

Thanks for your thought though!

Dragonfire Glass

sepia was very well behaved for me

I don't remember having a problem with sepia or sapphire. I've not used either very much though, just a couple of sets of spacers.

I'll have to give it another go - once I can touch the glass without it sticking to me!

Saying that - remember how Leaky Pen used to pit like mad - now it's fine!
