Hello everyone.

I am going mad with frustration with this glass. I have printed out Marys brilliant tips on how to get a reaction out of this potentially great stuff - all I get is kind of greeny creamyness! Everytime I try I get annoyed and wish I had spent my time making something decent instead. What I wanted to do was get a faux boro look with it (I am faux boro mad lol) but I get nothing - NADA! I am forever turning the propane up - or oxygen down. What am I doing wrong?? i'm serioulsy thinking of getting rid of it!

HELP!

Hi Emma

Don't do it! Electra gives some wonderful terracotta colours.

I work it for a long time in the mid part of a propane rich flame (Mary's tip I think) then once its got lots of terracotta I waft it through a small neutral flame until I get it to where I want it. The first stage takes longer than some of the other glasses (& much longer that I thought) but the swirls of terracotta with some blues & greens are definitely worth the effort.

You might just need to stay at it a little longer.

BTW I'm on a minor

I know what you mean Emma. I bought a few rods of the various double helix to try and a couple of the frits.  I was expecting, fireworks, a symphony orchestra and the earth to move and I got a whole load of nuthin'. They're just sat on my bench where I can conveniently glare at them. What are we doing wrong?

Elektra is a hard one to work, it loses its colour very readily. It needs VERY reduced. Try turning your propane up more.

For the other colours, also try really turning up your propane. That was something that surprised Caroline when she saw me reducing, I use a bigger flame than she thought was right, a really big flame, I need to work at arms length to reach the tip! I'll get a photo when I get home, I'm spending Easter with my Mum.

ooohh - thanks guys! Glad its not just me lol. its your fault Mary - I drool over your beads - and think - right - I'll go and use my special glass  and I get poop!

I will try and try and try again, I swear if I get anything I'll be doing summersaults!!

yeah it was, Mary's flame for reducing is very different, i wasn't doing it right at all and i've manage to recreate it at home now, not with Elektra, all i manage to do is boil that, lol

Yes Emma, the cobalt egg has Nyx. It's lovely stuff, goes iridescent really easily for me. Gaia is good too!

Mary

Glad you both like them Q! They are the pale Supernova with Aion stringer, the Aion seems to intensify the Supernova effects.
