Hello everyone

I splashed out on a rod of Intense Black which I've wanted for ages but I'm actually not sure what to do with it.  I know it's supposed to give a spidery effect so I put a few dots on an ivory bead expecting amazing things but got very slightly fuzzy edges.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom on the subject?

I'm on a HotHead.

Thank you

to get the webbing you need to give it some heat.

It's also good as a black - especailly if you're jsut using a little bit as normal black can give you a watered  down look ......

Try it on the ivory again with a bit of silver leaf as well, heat it up loads and you should see the patterns starting to form as the reactions take place. Great fun.

Thank you Shirley

I just received some silver foil today so I'll look forward to giving that a go.  Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Trudi.  I did heat it for ages but I know that the HotHead isn't that "hot" compared to other torches.

Pull it out very thin, a nice thin stringer, it webs more slowly if it's a big "lump". You'll need to keep heating it, prolonged heating is the thing.
