Jim

I have worked with nine different glasses from Precision 104 and do not like my results.  I did get good metallic reactions from Rembrant, Abes Ivy, and Sashas Silver .  Any tips or techniques?  I have worked cool, out in the flame, and let the bead cool before reducing.  I am working on a Cricket and I have tried 5 LPM Oxygen, and up to 8/9 LPM Oxygen.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Hi Jim, recently got a sample pack myself, had a play for the first time yesterday with not so pretty results so back off to read the wiki again......"humph" it's here if you want to have a look  http://www.frit-happens.co.uk/wiki/Northstar

I was told it likes to be reduced in a little or no oxygen flame, so turn the oxy down rather than the propane up I guess.

let us know how you get on. Kate  :)

I can recommend all of these glasses as blown shards with silver foil - seem to work really well and reduce a lot easier than in rod form.

She's made of real glass. She got real real emotion. But my heart laughs I have that same sweet devotion!

Jim, I'm not saying I can work them, but I've actually seen Rocio Bearer use them, and she kept saying that the changes in the flame are *minute* - ever so slightly reducing, or you ruin them  :-\

Thanks for that Kaz. Would you reduce shards in a normal low oxy reducing flame?

Thanks for starting this Jim, I just got some Abes Ivy and it won't play ball. I checked th wiki, tried it again and still nada!

Thanks Kaz!  Now, if I can improve my shard blowing!  Jim

I definately get much nicer and more predictable results when I use shards as opposed to rods too
