Does anyone *sell* silvered stringers?

its the wait..wait wait bit that takes getting used to 
but ppp allows you to pull different thickness stringer, start pulling slowly when you get the  thickness you want then pull faster as the glass cools!

I think making stringers is about the best way to learn heat control.

You're right, it's a wonderful way to learn heat control.  I took a glass class where a teacher was telling us how large to make them.  He'd say something like, I'd like this one to be about 3mm.  Holy cow, that was an eye opener, but another great exercise in glass and heat control.

The other thing is that ivory is such a soft glass.  It retains the heat and can go all over the place, if you don't let it cool a bit.  I love ivory, but it's gooey.

I'd even go as far as saying, make stringer before you even try making a bead ... it's a great way to learn how the glass behaves

I also think that if yo uget frustrated with something - leve it for a while. And by the time you come back to try it you've probably learned more about glass and how it behaves and that does help.

Sometimes you just get a eureka moment. And no matter how many times you read how to do something, we're all different, working with different tools and it is down to practise!
