I got some of the Effetre supposedly 'crystal' clear and tried it today.  Ha!  The minute it touches the flame it turns into a zillion tiny bubbles >:(.  I don't know if it's how I'm working it but it's by far the worst clear I've ever tried.  Back to the reliable Vetrofond for me I think.  Anyone else had the same problem?

Shirley

Not tried it. I'm a bit of a Lauscha addict :)

Yes had the same thing. I've got a diffrent torch now so will give it a go on that and work higher in the flame etc but not holding out any great hopes.

Wishing Wells Glass

Yes, I tried it as well and it was awful.  I use Lauscha and it's perfectly crystal clear :)

I've stuck to Lauscha too.... got a bundle off our Sal and am smitten :)

I bought some ages ago and it was fab! I'm on a minor BTW!!

Rachel

Oh well - I think I'll bin it then.  Glad I only tried 1/4kg.  I keep thinking about getting some Lauscha but I'm not sure I want the worry of whether it's going to be compatable with certain combinations.  I've found the Vetrofond to be the most reliable with no compatability problems.

Lauscha is awesome but an FYI...doesnt go well encasing Terranova 2.  They crack weeks later!!

Anyone else have this problem??

Shirley

I posted on another thread about a new clear being developed by DH that presumably is compatible with all the other DH glass. Frantz is giving some away with orders. They're calling it aether.

I've started a new wiki page especially for clear glass, so we can gather the 'which does what' info once and for all.....I'm away at a course, but if others want to make a start at editing it?
