ok... so question for you....

now I know that you cant use most precious and semi precious stones in glass as the heat would just disintergrate them...

but wot about diamonds... would it kill them as well...

saffie

right melting point is 3550 C so thats not an issue but would it survive annealing etc Mmmmm....dunno, could be expensive to find out  ;D

littlegiggles

lol.... I know... but you know when my mind starts scheming....

sparrow

Interesting......I've got a diamond I could play with....would be a bit of a bummer if the bead then was c***and nobody wanted it, lol!

I doubt the diamond would survive. A diamond is still a natural stone with impurities an flaws, that might react when heated. But it's your stone ;)

That opal is actually synthetic fire opal. It works with boro if you use small pieces - so I've been told ::)
Paula

littlegiggles

fire opal in boro... or little bitta boro fused in soft glass

Chameleon

i put an opal in soft glass an it survived.

.. no you cant see it, it was a totally shockingly bad bead in design and a complete fugly. but the opal did survive

sparrow

Can I see it if I ask really really nicely??  ;D ;D ;D
