You know where I work indoors. I personally feel very, very twitchy about having the actual gas inside so I have the quick release connectors and keep my gas outside with the hose going out of the window. It is very quick and easy and takes away a certain amount of the worry. I'd also suggest putting down some hardboard (it's very cheap) to protect the flooring. I think torching in the house is safe as long as you are careful.

I think the operative words in that Calor gas website are " If you have, or are thinking of having, a multi-cylinder installation at your property"
I have one gas cylinder and expect most people are the same. If I had an oxygen tank too, it would of course be outside in a properly set up cage and chained to the outside wall to avoid toppelling.

I think your house insurance company would kick up a fuss if your house went boom and it was the canisters fault. Even if was not I think they would not like it.

Also, like said before. They can leak.

I'm sure that glassy people understand the risks, but I think to er on the safe side, better outside.

If you are in the kitchen you could run pipes through the cat flap? with quick releases on the hoses.

I'm setting up in the garden for this very reason, insurance issues and my own saftey oh and keeping all the tons of glass goodies in one place.

Denise     - good luck with the big day.  I'm really getting bady envi.

My work shop is in a caravan, so gas was in it all ready, it has undergone a lot of changes and still need more before I'm finished but it works and is warm and dry, in fact every time we get a power cut we could cook in there but the gas is out side where the original bottles would have been

I have turned my large dining room into my work space (never eat in there except for Christmas anyway), have a huge opening window and 2 doors in the room which i also keep open for ventilation. Behind me i have a fan to push all fumes away from me too. The room has a 10' high ceiling so stays nice and airy.
As to the propane.........i have a quick release wotsit with long hose and i bring the cylinder into the house and pop it into the utility room when i'm working, i really don't have a problem with it being in the house. Being of a certain age i can remember when practically everyone had one of those gas heaters which you could wheel around the house and they had a propane gas cylinder in them so i figure if i survived, thousands of others survived and no doubt millions more survived worldwide before we all had central heating then i reckon it's no riskier than most of the other things in life. I have a flashback arrestor installed which i can tell you for a fact, my old gas heater did'nt.
It's horses for courses i know, i value my life just as much as anyone else or i would be skydiving not lampworking. LOL
Loads of people keep their propane cylinders in the house......we are all still here to tell the tale...i think.

I'm in the process of moving out into the shed :) Things have gone slow at the moment, but i hope to be in there in the next month or so. Hubby would have prefered me to stay in doors, but I want my own space and the spare bedroom back as a bedroom. I also think the safety aspect is important.

Thanks everyone.  I am very ashamed to say that the thought of the baby has even over taken my need to bead!!!

Especially after this mornings ante natal class all about birth and pain relief!!!!  I sat in the class with 8 other heavily pregnant women and though "OMG I AM PREGNANT!".  Nice to see I have finally noticed with only 5 weeks to go!!!!!!

I'm currently upstairs in a corner of my bedroom..... not a great spot... ventilation isn't the best, but hopefully it's only a temporary measure ...

I'll be in my bedroom when I get set up. Its a huge attic bedroom and I plan to have my table in front of the two big windows. I've bought a 10ftx8ft piece of cheap (non flammable  ;)) carpet yesterday which I'm going to lay on top of my carpet where the table will go and am going to replace my curtains with blinds.

I am planning to complain loudly about this set up until my brother gives in and lets me move into the garage  ;) ;D

Why move into the garage when the bedroom will be nice and cosy in the winter?

If it's got a hole, it's a bead !

Think I'll end up in the bedroom anyway  ::) Brother is a mechanic so the garage is HIS domain  ::)
