'Hot Head' Torch

The 'Hot Head' is a lampworking torch which is used by many lampworkers when they first begin to make beads and is still used by many advanced lampworkers for some tasks.

The main advantage of the 'Hot Head' is that it has large air intake holes below the head which allow it to take in air to maximize the temperature of the flame, without the need for a separate oxygen supply.

The 'Hot Head' uses MAPP gas which is propane gas with additives to enable it to burn hotter and cleaner that propane alone. It is possible, however, to convert the 'Hot Head' to use bulk propane tanks by using a converter and specialist gas equipment.

You should expect to pay somewhere in the region of £30 for a 'Hot Head' which is much cheaper than other lampworking torches, such as the Nortel Minor.
