Creation Station or Not ??

I'd love a creation station - my hands are't exactly the steadiest.
The price puts me off - I'd rather spend it on glass 
I do try leaning against the torch top marver sometimes but it gets b*** hot after a while!

Ahhhh, well my bithday is comming up in a few weeks, Mums ordered me a beadbox from the beadbox man, actually I ordered it and she gave me her credit card details    and my husband is getting me a Creation Station.......he just doesn't know it yet......lololol.

I have a Creation Station and I also have torched without one at Di's studio for the Sarah Hornik class.  I must say, trying to steady my shaky hands (mine shake something fierce!) on the edge of the torch top marver wasn't so easy!!

I honestly could not make beads without my Creation Station.  The elbow rests are great as they stick out from the work surface so your arms can be at a more natural angle.  The wrist rests are what really makes it worth it for me though.  I CONSTANTLY have my wrists resting on them no matter what I'm making.  For me this means that I can spend hours on end at my torch with little to no discomfort.  As for Sally's point about it being a bit 'floppy', my husband *did* have to make minor adjustments to it so it would be more robust. 

The one bad point, at least for me, is that the elbow padding is quite thin and after a few hours my elbows do ache.  I'm looking into replacing the thin pads with something more substantial.  Oh, and yeah, I've burnt the pads a few times and they DO smell awful.. so I'd try to avoid that!  LOL

Sue P:  You torch STANDING UP?!?  I can't even fathom how that would work!!  You must have some serious motor skills!!!

A cheap and cheerful way of supporting your arms, in a tip given to me on another forum is to cover two toilet rolls with cooking foil and use them as rests. Having said that, I now have a Creation Station having tried one out at Towcester. I change the angle of the supports according to what I want to do. I also have problems with my neck and shaking hands so when doing something fiddly, I rest the tip of the mandrel on the torch between each dot application and find I can get more precision that way.

Yup, I'm afraid I wouldn't be without mine either! Having said that, it took almost as long to get used to as the new and bigger torch. It is definitely worth the perseverance(at least to me!), and while burnt neoprene isn't a great smell, the wood its made of is quite nicely scented when it burns

I've got short arms, so I don't think the CS wrist rests would fit me. But I do like to rest my elbows for fine stuff, so DH screwed a couple of bits of wood to my desk and I bought computer wrist rests for my elbows. Not so pretty, but effective!
