what do you do with big pieces of frit??

Hi there, just wondering what you do with large chunks of frit. I bought some Adventurine Old Gold K4 and not really sure how it all works?

it is possible to pull nice stringers from larger pieces of frit by attaching your frit to a spare bit of clear rod, melting it in a bit and encasing it before pulling as you would any other kind of stringer. Home made goldstone stringer can be made this way....have been looking for a picture/video tutorial but no luck finding you one yet!

If it's too big a chunk you can wrap it in a bag, inside a towel and delicately "hammer" it

I was about to say smash it up and make it smaller

Try the old gold with opal yellow. I find it really brings out the blush in the yellow

The big chunks are for pulling into stringer. Simply warm the end of a rod, and push it onto one of the big pieces, melt the big chunk, add more pieces if you feel the need, then pull into stringer and use for decoration. 

If it is Iris Gold, that makes lovely raised stringer patterns.  If you then reduce it you get lovely gold trails.  The aventurine colours (I think) look better melted in a little more to leave a sparkly trail.
