swirls

OK......searched the website and can't find any reference to this.  What is the best way to make swirls.  I have sarted making beads with little tsunami type waves on them but I cant seem to get the blob to swirl.  I know I have to use a clear stringer, and I place it in the molten blob and twist but it just does'nt swirl the way I want it to.  I manged to do 1 out of about 10!! got any tips guys n gals?

Try using a really thick stringer.
