will fire polish melt powder frit?

i made another one of these but with no colour on fins. After flat fuse to kiln carve water I then contour fused to stick on koi, I thought if I added a little orange powder frit to the fins [they had kind of disappeared into the clear glass behind] that the powder would melt down into the glass during the slump into the mould. I WAS WRONG! The powder is still very rough.
Would a fire polish be hot enough to melt in the powder?
Will it damage the mould if I fire polish with the platter in ?
If it is better to fire polish platter out of mould will I lose the kiln carved effect?
LOTS of questions as ever but would be really grateful if someone could suggest a remedy!
