I have a 3-in-1 Ring mandrel from Tufnells. Anyone know how to use it? I tried to put bead release on it and use it as a normal mandrel, but it startet to come a lot of smoke from it, so I suspect its not meant to be heated like that?

Hi Irene

Wash it first to remove the oils then put bead release on it.

hmm I will give it another go then. But I remember the smoke came from in between the ring mandrel and the shaft I, dont know if I can explain it good enough. But I will try again now and see what happens

I give all my new mandrels a wash and then place them in the bottom of my kiln and run a quick ramp cycle to remove any oil/grease on them. Not much survives 500 degrees.
