Having been on Emma's course last weekend, I'm now looking for COE33 dichroic. Are there any UK suppliers or must I go further afield? I want to try to remake the projects we did at home.

I'm not sure... I usually get mine in from the US but do have a little here to spare. Will PM you  :)

Warm Glass UK

Have you checked out Josh at Elements Glass? He might have something or might be able to start bringing stuff in if he doesnt already do it? http://www.elementsglass.co.uk/brands/TAG-33.html He's really helpful  :)

Lotti

Tuffers do some, it's on the clear boro tube and rod page right at the bottom of page 3 of this.

At this rate with so many folks working with boro I think we do need more supplies over here, Josh has quite a few bits and Kevin has some rods and now Tuffers has a bit more, but it would be nice to have a bit more choice wouldn't it ;) :)

I bought some a while ago, I think from Tuffnells. At the Flame-Off, if I remember right, Josh of Elements did have some... in any case, I agree with Warm Glass, Josh is very helpful so would be a good person to ask.

I saw that Martin but I'm not after rainbow colours. I was looking for more muted ones. Elements Glass doesn't seem to stock it either nor Melting Glass. Maybe a slot for you to fill Martin?

I have some Pat and I wouldn't say it is THAT rainbow, I can cut you a slither to try if you like. xx  Glad you enjoyed your course, was very envious. :)

Thanks Lotti but Emma's already sent me a few bits for now and to keep me going until my order from ABR Imagery arrives. Interesting what you say about the "rainbow" glass on Martin's site. I might go mad and order a bit just to see. I'm sure I can find a use for it. It was a great course but very titing for me. I stayed at the Thorpe Hall camp site and can thoroughly recommend it. It even had a little shopping area for fresh milk etc.

I'd agree with Lotti - assuming what I have was from Martin, as I think it was - not too much rainbow. It's been giving me nice green/gold effects, sometimes a bit of pink and blue over a dark base, sometimes nothing but white flecks when I've overcooked and/or overstretched it...

Will you let us know how you get on with the ABR stuff - which one(s) have you ordered?

I've had the sample pack from ABR in the past and it has a good mix of colours - some appear to burn out easier than others but it is nice to have a mixture. The emerald green, for me, has a coating that appears to shoot off the glass as soon as it gets close to a flame! This one, I get against a piece of clear asap without 'tempering' it first. And even then, I usually lose some!

I have had the rainbow too. It is also very nice and if you are just looking for that sparkly dichro effect, it works very well.

Some dichro colours need to be heated up in the kiln before going near the flame. Watch New Age Flameworking volumes 1 and 2, they are great resource for dichro working tips.

This is what I've ordered, 1 EA x Scrap Dichroic 33COE by the Pound (dichro scrap ) = $44.95 They are going to let me know how much shipping will fleece me  ::)  ::)  ::) In the meantime, as I have 104 COE dichro, I've attempted to make a 104 COE mouse similat to the blue one I made in Emma's class. It's in the kiln. I'll post a picture however badly it turns out.

Steampunkglass

That's a great way to order it Pat, if you are lucky you can get some really unusual bits from time to time, although some seem harder to keep the dichroic from burning away than other bits, and some are quite thick, but now again you get bits of patterned dichroic which make some really interesting effects. I even got one large chunk that seems to be just a mirror finish!  :o :o :o

Lotti

I have the sample pack and it is great fun, I haven't braved the green yet!  Have fun, looking forward to seeing your creations :)
