Ventilation Fan Question

I need to buy a new ventilation fan for my shedio as my old one has broken.

Can anyone give me advice as to how much extraction rate per hour my fan should have?

I work in an 8x6 shedio.

Roughly the same as mine then.  There's a lot of calculations on page 2 of this thread http://www.frit-happens.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=19102.15 - I got mine from Progrow, one of the box type so might be worth giving them a call for ideas?  I think next time I'd buy an inline fan because the box type has to sit on a shelf in my studio and takes up room but flow rates will be comparable.

As a starting data point, the fans we supply pull 230 cubic metres per hour, and we've found that to be fine for a minor setup with no bench enclosure (simple hood arrangement).  Note that figures supplied for fans are generally maximum ratings - what you actually get depends on things like how long the total ducting run is, size of the ducting, etc.  It's also worth noting that the wider the ducting, the less air speed you'll get for a given volumetric extraction; to put this another way, a powerful fan sucking through a narrow duct will cause your flame to move more than the same fan sucking through a wider duct.

When looking at replacement fans, it's also worth considering how much noise you're prepared to put up with.  Narrower ducting and more powerful fans are generally noiser.
