Hi,

Just received my Paragon E-10 yesterday.  ;D
I was just wondering if I needed to use the kilnwash? The instructions are quite clear that I should coat the floor and shelves with it, but then there are other messages in here saying do and don't!

Lastly, ummmmm, is it normal to suddenly not want to turn it on???  :o
'Slightly' terrified that I'm going to program is wrong. Any suggestions on ramp and hold settings? (For annealing beads) and it is alright to put them in from cold right?

Sorry sudden nerves kicking in.
Really excited with all my new equipment, just trying not to burn myself.

I've read a few posts about the SC2 and SC3, is it the same settings? Or does it vary from kiln to kiln?

Sorry.

It is perfectly normal not to want to switch it on, at least that is what I found!!!

Thank you.

Felt really stoopid asking hubby to hold my hand whilst I flicked it on.
My is clicks a lot!

When I first got my kiln, I sat and watched it for the first few firings because the manual said so :)  Now I just leave it to get on with things, but never leave the house while it's on.  Yes, they do an awful lot of clicking!  When I replaced the relay a couple of months ago, I just had to watch it when it reached fusing temperature just to be sure, but everything is ticketyboo again now.

Hoping to anneal some beads tomorrow for the first time. It's a batch anneal, so fingers and toes will be crossed.

Thank you Trudi,

Is the schedule the same regardless of kiln type?

Trudi

Yes ... It's a bit like a cooker.
The schedule is

Ramp (speed it heats/cools) - temperature - time it holds the temp for

With paragons the last step is just 0 so that it knows that's the end of the schedule ... Not sure if that bit is common with all makes.

Oh my goodness this is excruciating!
It's heated up and held at 520, now it's taking FOREVER to cool down!
:'( :'( :'(

Why do I feel like I've joined a massive queue?
When can I peep?

Have you programmed it to ramp down too? Mine holds at 520 and then ramps down to 370, then the programme ends. 370 is the point where cracking can occur, I think, so you have a controlled decrease in temperature down to that point, and then it is just as the kiln loses its heat.
