Just collected my bead cube and unpacked it but there are 2 bits that I don't know what they are for? One is a 3 legged thingy looks like it may be to raise the floor tile? The other a rectangular block but no idea where that goes? I've bought the rack to go inside but not sure what other bits I need in there before I try and fire it up! Sorry for dumb questions but am very excited and can't wait to give it a whirl  ;D

Hi Lynne

I don't use the tile or block, I just use the metal rack on the floor of the kiln on it's own.

You can use the block to rest mandrels on, or the tile to protect the floor of the kiln etc, but to be honest I find with the metal rack, there's no need for anything else.

Now, this mightnt be right but its what I do!

I bought the rack but didnt get along with it and reverted to the triangle thing to rest a newly made bead to keep it apart from the others, just putting the end of the mandrel on it to rest, then moving that one over when the next was ready.I often prefer to use the rectangular piece instead, placed at the back again to rest rod ends on. Depends on whats in the kiln as invariably I dont check before switching on and not enough room in there for both!

Anyway, I love my little bead cube
Now I can play all day as I retired from the 'proper' job....

I didn't get any bits with mine  :(

The rack I had to buy but the other bits came with it (destructions on the programmes but none on the bits) Did u get it from Kilncare, maybe they forgot to include

I got it from kilncare, the bead cube was very new then so maybe didn't come with the bits then. I still love it so much a fantastic kiln  ;D

Thanks everyone think I've sussed it all now  :) well it's full of beads and ramping up to anneal temp anyway ! Decided to 'kebab' my beads on spare mandrels and use the rack to do a batch anneal of all my beads worthy of keeping! Very exciting  ;D

You can use the tripod with the board on top to do some fusing - just make sure it's all level before you fire.

Nikki, you should have had the star and block so get in touch and I'll post em out to you.

All of the above are pretty bang on. The star, the block and the optional internal rack are all the same thing and really you would only use one at a time depending on which you prefer. They are all there to rest the end of the mandrel on until the bead has cooled. Once it's down to annealing temperature you can leave it where it is or you can, in the case of the star, move the bead over so there is space on the star for the next mandrel.

Hope that helps
