Last night I turned my bead cube on and then made a bead for around an hour. I then popped the bead in the kiln turned back to my torch picked some glass up and heard that ting. When I looked at the kiln it was only at 50 degrees. This has not happened before it always gets to temp in minutes using the supplied settings. Anyone else had this happen to them or does anyone know why this happened?

Mine has never done anything like this so not sure, are you sure you used the right setting?

Has the thermostat thing fallen out of the back? Mine did something similar when I'd moved and dislodged the thermostat but luckily I noticed before I put anything in it.

Kilncare are very helpful so contact them if you cant figure out what the problem is
Now I can play all day as I retired from the 'proper' job....

Are you sure you (or someone else) hasn't accidentally altered the settings? My son managed to by repeatedly pushing the up arrow when I'd asked him to press and hold it once to advance the kiln to the next stage. I didn't notice until I used it next and the kiln was up to 695 and I panicked and rang Lee at Kiln Care. Lee as usual was great but once we talked it through and I realised what had happened, to say I was embarrassed was an understatement   :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Phone Lee.   He will talk you through some diagnostics and ensure all is ok.

I've done it once with mine, I think I pressed one of the buttons twice without realising & didn't notice til I went to put a bead in that it was barely warm; I stuck the bead in bubbles, switched the kiln off & started again - it worked fine

Phew good news.
It could only be a double press or maybe you had accidentally selected the Batch program.

Just for your knowledge if you had knocked the thermocouple out it would have gotten pretty hot, very quickly then switched off and registered an error message.

Glad you are sorted.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm off home in a bit so hoping it won't do it again tonight. It was on the right setting, thermocouple in the right place and I pressed the button the same as usual. I have the same control on my hobbyfuser so know I can't have done the wrong thing. Fingers crossed it was a once off. Just wondered if anyone had had the same thing happen. If it happens again I'll phone Lee.
