Hi

Quick question about using Silver Foil.

I want to layer base glass (probably black opal), then a piece of silver foil, then a smaller piece of dichro, then clear glass (the one which is recommended for the foil).

Is this ok?  I mean to put dichro on top of foil - either way up if its clear backed?

Also, just thought......is a full fuse schedule ok with this or should I reduce any of the heat/hold?

Thanks folks!

No idea whether the dichro coating would have a reaction with silver foil or not, only one way to find out  ;)

As for the fusing schedule, I'd try whatever schedule you'd use for the effect you want (if you want a full fuse, use a normal full fuse) you shouldn't need to do anything diffirent just because you're using dichro or foil.

I agree, the only thing to do is to try it and see. Because the silver migrates into the glass there may be a reaction with the dicrho and the yellowing may change the way the glass colour shifts but it will be worth a try on a test piece. I have used dichro with palladium leaf before and that worked fine.
